This isn’t exactly the normal subject matter I cover, but the lunar eclipse was rather incredible and I’m sure it has some effect on something related to dreaming and life energy/chi/ki/qi/psi, so here are some pictures I captured during the event.

It seems like there has been quite a bit of coverage about an experiment in Switzerland that was supposed to recreate an OBE. As it turns out, the experiment provided an interesting state of consciousness but not one I would consider an OBE. Here’s the short version of the experiment:

A volunteer had goggles which showed the input of a camera that was behind their shoulders.
This camera showed a view from behind their back.
When the person was touched with a pen, it appeared to be happening to their “virtual body” and not to them.
People felt like they were looking at their own body.

Why I think this is important:
It is a nice stepping stone for the scientific community to take so they can start tackling full on OBEs. Also, the relatively large publicity of this experiment on major news sites (relative to how much coverage this kind of stuff usually gets anyways) will hopefully raise the public awareness of OBEs and related subjects. Most people trust science as absolute fact too, (despite that it is a continuing explanation) so maybe this will also help people open their minds to OBEs. (and lucid dreaming!)

I was mulling over my dreams last night, and I was doing my routine check with a friend to see if it might have been a shared dream. As usual, no connection whatsoever. At least literally speaking. That’s when an idea hit me.

If dreams could be considered symbolic, what’s to say that all dreams aren’t shared, but with different symbols?

Maybe that sounds impossible, but think about it. If every person has a different perception of the same thing, it’s feasible in most ways. I was just thinking about it and I can’t really think of anything that might disprove it. (Not saying that this makes it true, as that’s a logical fallacy, just that it remains a possibility in my mind right now.) Something that is necessary for this idea is another idea: That we all dream together in something akin to the collective unconscious or a world of dreams. But the first idea begs the question:

What are actual shared dreams?

Under this concept, a dream in which people successfully communicated and experienced the same thing would be when they aligned their mechanism of perception. This way, they perceived the same things in the dream and could communicate as well as remember something similar.

This is just an idea that struck me, not based on experience or something I’ve read or anything like that, just an idea. What do you think of it?

The mind enhancement program is designed to induce heightened Gamma brain activity to trigger a variety of results including but not limited to rapid development of expanded awareness, increased intuition, lucid dreaming, miscellaneous psi abilities, the achievement of higher states of consciousness, and many other fascinating possibilities.

From Reality Shifter’s introductory page about the Gamma Mind Enhancement Technology.

I have been using this technology for six nights now, and I have had some interesting and consistent results in the short term already. Here they are in list form:

Tingling
Loss of feeling in hands and feet
Easier to work with energy
More vivid visualizations
Increased energy in general, the biggest boost being right after the session

I also had two one time events which may or may be related to the Gamma technology:

This is fairly minor, but it hasn’t happened again, so I can’t put it up under the first category. I had increased dream recall after the first night, probably three dreams over normal. This was most likely a fluke.

The other occurance happened when I was sitting down and staring in a relaxed manner at someone, and I saw colors around them. This reminded me of Auras, and I was able to focus and do it for a few minutes, then I was unable to continue maintaining the focus required. I’ve tried to learn to see auras before, but never really wholeheartedly. I hadn’t seen colors around people until now, so it’s most likely due to the gamma experiment, but it’s too early to be anywhere near sure.

Interesting results thus far.

Many thanks to Darcy from Spiritual Blog Reviews for reviewing this blog. You can read the review here.

The author of this exceptional blog is the Mad Hatter…and no, I don’t think that his altered states are caused by mercury poisoning.

Most certainly my favorite part of Darcy’s fluid and well written review.

In other news:

Sean Connelly has posted about a very interesting video from 1998 about psychic powers. A news station did a story on remote viewing and had a remote viewer describe an event from the past. She had nothing but a series of 8 numbers that were assigned to the target. Watch to decide for yourself, but I’d say she nailed it.

In other other news:
Dreamport has a new look! It’s supposed to come to the forums soon too. Awesome.

There are a lot of incorrect notions that people have about dreaming and lucid dreaming. Here’s some of the bigger misconceptions:

It makes you feel more tired
Lucid dreaming does not interrupt the REM stage of sleep or change your sleep cycle in any way. Perhaps waking up out of a dream, but lucid dreaming does not inherently tire you.

It isn’t natural
Many people have been controlling their dreams since childhood. Other people spontaneous experience lucid dreams. Many people have experienced lucid dreaming without any practice, which would support the idea that lucid dreaming is a natural ability.

Dying in a dream kills you in real life
I can say from personal experience, and from many other’s experiences, that this isn’t true. You simply wake up.

You’re disrupting a message if you change your dreams
Research done by Stephan LaBerge indicates that dreams are actually our models of the world, not messages from our subconscious. The dream is built upon our waking biases assumptions and expectations. The clarity brought on by being aware helps you understand the dream more, not less.

Do you have any other misconceptions you’d like to bring to light? Leave a comment and let me know.

Ben over at dreaming life has “called me out” to explain why and how I first got into lucid dreaming.

How I found out about Lucid Dreaming

In the middle of 2004, I was completely unaware of lucid dreaming. I ran into it when I spotted an article on a popular news website. I read a very long tutorial on the lucidity institutes’s website. Back when I read it, it had some links to popular lucid dreaming sites at the bottom. (Yes, I read the whole thing through) All were broken except for one, which lead me to Ld4all. I read up on the basics of lucid dreaming.

I tried a wake back to bed that night, and recalled my first dream in months. A vivid experience which I still have, both in memory and writing. The second night I attempted another WBTB, and succeeded in getting a very low level of detail and lucidity. It was my first (and last, actually) grainy looking dream. I enjoyed fighting in a matrix style dojo, despite the low level of vividness and the detached 3rd person nature of the dream.

From there on I’ve been reading about lucid dreaming and everything related or even loosely connected. I’ve succeeded in achieving more lucid dreams, as well as higher level lucid dreams. I’m still on the quest to get lucid dreams nightly, but the path is its own reward, especially with all of the deep and valuable realizations that lucid dreaming offers a dreamer.

That’s how I got into Lucid Dreaming.

Lucid Plaza Release!

One of the big things going on at Dreamport has been the lucid plaza project. This project is dedicated to creating a digital world in which dreamers could incubate the environment and attempt to share dreams. A big landmark release happened today: Nachician released the point and click program, which uses screens from the models that Donoteat created. In this program, the user explores the environment in still photos with descriptions of what they are looking at. This is the first release, so additions are likely. As far as we know right now, the real time version of the program is on hold due to technical problems.

Now, just how useful is this actual program?

Somewhat useful.

This first release is just the basics. It’s got a picture of everything important in the plaza, although there was a lack of interior photos as well as a shortage of photos in general. This lack caused a sort of disorientation, at least for me, as I looked around the plaza. My suggestions for the second part of the release would be a less jumpy sort of walk, and many more pictures. Perhaps the forum’s manpower could also be turned to snapping images.

Good work so far Nachician, I look forward to further releases. With any luck, these aids will give the participants in the shared dreaming project on Dreamport an easier time of it.
