Ben over at dreaming life has “called me out” to explain why and how I first got into lucid dreaming.
How I found out about Lucid Dreaming
In the middle of 2004, I was completely unaware of lucid dreaming. I ran into it when I spotted an article on a popular news website. I read a very long tutorial on the lucidity institutes’s website. Back when I read it, it had some links to popular lucid dreaming sites at the bottom. (Yes, I read the whole thing through) All were broken except for one, which lead me to Ld4all. I read up on the basics of lucid dreaming.
I tried a wake back to bed that night, and recalled my first dream in months. A vivid experience which I still have, both in memory and writing. The second night I attempted another WBTB, and succeeded in getting a very low level of detail and lucidity. It was my first (and last, actually) grainy looking dream. I enjoyed fighting in a matrix style dojo, despite the low level of vividness and the detached 3rd person nature of the dream.
From there on I’ve been reading about lucid dreaming and everything related or even loosely connected. I’ve succeeded in achieving more lucid dreams, as well as higher level lucid dreams. I’m still on the quest to get lucid dreams nightly, but the path is its own reward, especially with all of the deep and valuable realizations that lucid dreaming offers a dreamer.
That’s how I got into Lucid Dreaming.

Amazing how stumbling upon a random article on a news site can change your life, eh? Thanks for taking part & sharing your story, Hatter!
Neat story. Some people really do 'stumble upon it.' Still others work their way toward lofty goals…
